Networking event – how can we develop the promotion of sustainable tourism development?

In December, the Swedish Lapland Visitors Board invited local and regional business promoters in Norrbotten to a network meeting. An opportunity to share knowledge and have a dialog about how we can develop our promotion of the sustainable development of the tourism industry together.

Among other things, participants learned about selected parts of the comprehensive Kairos Future Travel Trend Report 2024 – fresh insights into travel trends, as well as the work of our Arctic destination’s international business network of travel retailers.

“We are convinced that together we can contribute to many value-creating collaborations in the future. The tourism industry is complex and requires interaction between us business promoters,” says Oskar Hederyd, Swedish Lapland Visitors Board, and continues:

“We all have an important role to play”.

During the first program point, Johanna Ögren, Swedish Lapland Visitors Board, talked about how we use trend reports, company surveys and analyses when we support the ambitions of the tourism industry. Using examples from the Kairos Future Travel Trend Report, she also showed what awaits companies in 2025.

David Lind from Swedish Lapland Visitors Board, highlighted how we work for the industry’s stronger conditions to reach out and succeed in foreign markets. This during the program item “How do we support export-oriented companies in business partnerships with the B2B business network of international travel retailers?”.

All participants responded in an evaluation survey after the meeting that there is great interest in collaborating within Norrbotten’s tourism ecosystem.

“In the evaluation, we saw that many people point to the importance of awakening local commitment to the value of being a tourism municipality and again how more collaboration between promoters can lead to more action”, says Linda Norén, Swedish Lapland Visitors Board.

“In 2025, we will continue to work together to strengthen the tourism industry’s ability to realize the great potential that we together have to take responsibility for,” concludes Linda.
