Cape East launches three-year partnership with French Fram – 15,000 new guest nights expected

Cape East in new partnership with French tour operator Fram. The parties have signed a three-year agreement that is expected to generate over 15,000 guest nights per winter at Sweden’s easternmost resort, Cape East. The collaboration is a result of last year’s successful winter charter at Pite Havsbad, which is part of the same group as Cape East and contributes to the continued development of winter tourism in Norrbotten. Haparanda-Tornio’s business community and the whole of Swedish Lapland as a destination will also benefit from the new collaboration.

For several years, Pite Havsbad Group has made major investments in winter tourism with strong growth in foreign guests. The investments of recent years have paved the way for another collaboration, this time with the French tour operator Fram, with Cape East as the destination.

“It feels great to develop winter tourism further in northern Sweden with charter tourists to Cape East. Guests stay a whole week at Cape East and then have time to experience many winter activities such as dog sledding, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, ice fishing, meeting reindeer and more during their stay”, says Tobias Lindfors, CEO and principal owner of Pite Havsbad Group.

Starting in December, guests will be flown from Paris to either Luleå Airport or Rovaniemi Airport by chartered planes every week until the end of March. Both Luleå Airport and Rovaniemi Airport are located about 130 kilometers from Cape East, which of the airports it will be is not yet determined. The planes can carry 180 passengers and each guest will stay at Cape East for a week, which is estimated to generate over 15,000 guest nights.

“This is very positive news both for Cape East and for Haparanda. The tourism industry is important in Haparanda and I am pleased that Cape East is investing in developing its business”, says Nina Waara, Municipal Councillor Haparanda.

The Cape East spa hotel offers guests a peaceful and relaxed stay with the opportunity to take part in exotic winter activities. With its unique location at the easternmost point of Sweden, on the border between Sweden and Finland, guests can also experience two cultures during their visit.

In addition to the activities organized at Cape East, there is also much to discover in the twin town of Haparanda-Tornio. In addition to beautiful nature, there are also opportunities for shopping and activities in both Sweden and Finland.

“Our Arctic destination meets the curiosity and demand of many French people interested in nature and culture. Last winter, French guest nights increased by 24%, compared to 9% nationally, and we look forward to continued long-term positive development”, says Annika Fredriksson, CEO Swedish Lapland Visitors Board.

The Pite Havsbad Group’s facilities are currently well visited by foreign tourists, the largest target group being Norwegian camping guests. Over the years, the Group has made major investments to broaden its concept and attract tourists from more countries. The collaboration between Fram and Cape East is another step in Pite Havsbad Group’s continued development of winter tourism.

“Our investments in Pite Havsbad Group have given ripples on the water and lead to new collaborations for our hotels, we are very proud and happy about this. It feels great to now establish another of our hotels as a winter and charter destination”, says Kristofer Lundström, CEO and co-owner Pite Havsbad Group.

Facts: Cape East has 156 hotel rooms, spa, manor restaurant, conference rooms and camping. Cape East is the only spa north of Östersund that is a member of Svenska Spahotell. The location on Sweden’s easternmost mainland point in Haparanda-Tornio is an experience in itself with the river flowing past, untouched nature and in winter the northern lights dancing in the sky over the frozen river and sea.
