Dreaming of designing a suite at the ice hotel?

Every year, the Icehotel in Jukkasjärvi is reborn – with the help of creative people from all over the world. Now you have the chance to become one of those creators, by participating in the international design competition! The deadline for applications is April 21, 2025.

Icehotel is more than a hotel – it is a living art project built from ice and snow from the Torne River. Every year the hotel takes on a completely new form, with artistic suites created by fresh and innovative designers. The only requirement is that the design is the artist’s own, that there is a bed and that ice and snow are used.

Building the ice hotel year after year is a way to celebrate both nature and creativity. In November, selected artists gather in Jukkasjärvi to transform their ideas into stunning ice suites in just two weeks. When spring arrives, the works melt down and become one with nature again.

“I look forward to seeing the creative ideas for Icehotel 36. They are sure to be unexpected, challenging and unique,” said Luca Roncoroni, Creative Director of Icehotel, in a press release.

You don’t have to be an ice sculptor to compete.

The competition welcomes not only ice sculptors, but also creators from other fields. Applications are judged on concept, creativity, innovation and feasibility.
